At-a-Glance

This is an explorative project completed during my Master's on a dementia-monitoring device and its companion AI-powered app.

I have personal experience with this topic, and chose this research question: How might we provide higher levels of autonomy for those with dementia by helping them maintain a schedule while reducing caregiver intervention?

Below is a quick visual walkthrough of the process:

Via secondary research, I created an empathy map to better understand those with dementia

I clarified the goal with jobs-to-be done

And began ideating on UI that could increase autonomy

Prototypes feature a health dashboard, task tracker, and calendar

All of which are AI-monitored and alert a caregiver of abnormalities. For example, if a user with dementia was supposed to be away at an appointment, but instead their location pings at home and their heartrate is elevated, their caretaker would be notified immediately, and a life could be saved.

This project was a great exercise in prototyping
